Septoplasty involves straightening and repositioning the nasal septum to open blocked nasal passages. During the procedure, the surgeon lifts the nasal lining, trims or reshapes the deviated cartilage and bone, and repositions the septum to the center of the nose.
It is a surgical procedure usually performed in a hospital or accredited surgical facility. Since all incisions are made inside the nose, there are no visible external scars. Nasal splints or packing may be placed temporarily to support healing and maintain proper alignment.
